Every surface, one standard.

Five services, all done the same way: prepared properly, cut in by hand, left tidy.

Interior painting

Most rooms are judged at the edges: where the wall meets the ceiling, where paint meets skirting, how a door catches the light. Interior work is planned around those lines.

  • Walls and ceilings
  • Skirting boards, doors, frames and architraves
  • Feature walls and colour changes
  • Stairwells, landings and hallways

Exterior painting

Outside, paint has a job beyond looks: it protects. Exterior work starts with the surface, because a finish only lasts as long as what it is stuck to.

  • Rendered and masonry walls
  • Front doors, window frames and sills
  • Fascias, soffits and bargeboards
  • Garden walls, fences and gates

Wallpaper hanging

Wallpaper is unforgiving. A pattern that drifts or a seam that opens is noticed every time someone walks in. Hanging it well is mostly patience and a straight line.

  • Feature walls and full rooms
  • Patterned, plain and textured papers
  • Lining paper ahead of painting or papering
  • Removal of old wallpaper

Surface preparation

Preparation is the part of the job you never see and always notice. Filled cracks, sanded edges and the right primer are the difference between a wall that looks new and one that just looks painted.

  • Filling cracks, holes and dents
  • Sanding woodwork and walls
  • Priming new plaster and bare wood
  • Stain blocking and mist coats

What affects the price

No two jobs are the same, so the job is looked at before it’s priced. These are the things that make the difference.

  • Size and heightFloor area, ceiling height and stairwells that need ladders or a platform.
  • ConditionCracks, holes, old wallpaper, woodchip, damp stains or new plaster all change the preparation.
  • What’s includedWalls only, or ceilings, skirting, doors, frames and radiators too.
  • Colour changeGoing dark to light, or to a strong colour, can need an extra coat.
  • PaintTrade paint supplied as part of the job, or paint you’ve chosen yourself.
  • Access and timingFurniture to move, parking, and any deadline like a move-in date.
For a rough idea: UK averagesTypical ranges across UK decorators, excluding VAT, from Which?, November 2025. Not a Blade Decor price: your quote comes after the job has been looked at.
